Tod B and Irony
At daycare pickup, I always get Gabe first, then Tessa second. The reason is simple: if you take Tessa to Gabe’s classroom, she loses her mind with wild joy and excitement over the plethora of big-kid toys. Magnetic easels with magnets! Felt story boards! Puzzles! Chest of dress-up clothes! Pretend farm! Giant dollhouse! One-year-old-overload-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
But yesterday I...

Weekends Are Fun
We packed a lot into two days, friends. First, we had an excellent (belated) combined Father’s Day/Ross’ 30th Birthday party with my family on Saturday.
On Sunday, Tess gave an impromptu piano concert.
And, saving the best for last, we experienced the maiden voyage of the Waterpillar, an actual backyard water toy that you hook up to the hose. I felt like such a grown-up, that...

One Reason Why I Love June
Last night the weather was fine so we had a backyard picnic for dinner.

For Father’s Day, Gabe insisted that he wanted to buy Matt a Star Wars card. Do you know how difficult it is to find a Father’s Day-themed Star Wars card? Much like my hunt for the elusive cupcake toppers, this proved to be significantly more difficult than anticipated. Finally, after multiple trips to multiple stores, I found a generic “Have the greatest day in the...
Happy Friday, Princes and Princesses!
Items of note from this week include the following:
Last night at dinner we were talking about being happy. Gabe said, “I’m happy, just sitting here with my friend.” Feeling slightly confused, I asked who he was talking about. He replied, “You know, I’m happy just sitting here with my friend Tess.”
Tessa loves Gabe’s Darth Vader and R2D2 action...

Nothing Like a Little Crime Fighting in the...
This was taken before Gabe made us all (yes, me and Matt too) put on capes and fly around the house.
Reece!
– Tessa’s response when asked who she played with at school yesterday. Clearly the child is a genius. (Just FYI, she does actually have a friend named Reece in her class.)

Nakedy
So, Tessa is turning out to be something of a nudist. Either that, or she just really hates changing her clothes. I think this is a regular thing for toddlers, but Gabe never pulled this particular stunt, so I am unsure.
When we get dressed for school in the mornings, she is thrilled to take off her PJs, but not so thrilled to put on whatever outfit we’ve selected together, no matter how...

Snapshot Friday
It’s a gloomy Friday here in the Valley, but lucky for you Gabe and Tess are here to cheer you up! (OK, no one was that interested in smiling for the camera this morning, but I try, people. I try!)
First we have this charming gentleman, the space explorer with the surfer hair. (Matt is loving his long hair right now, so don’t get your hopes up about a haircut anytime soon.) Could...
So, Tessa’s new thing is that she will “go crazy” on command. Please see the video evidence above.

Vacation!
Here are a few pictures from our vacation! We went on a cruise beginning in Rome and ending in Athens, with stops along the way in Positano (Italy), Paxos (Greece), Dubrovnik (Croatia), and Kotor (Montenegro). The yacht was chartered by the USC Law School, so all 90 or so guests on board were connected to the school. There’s a somewhat lengthy story behind how and why the trip was planned...

It is good to be home.

Home Again
Is there anything sweeter than a reunion with babies, who smile, wide-eyed with surprise and joy, to see you when they wake up in the morning? No, there is nothing sweeter.
I am so jet lagged that I’m loopy, and need to clean out my terrifying work inbox, but just wanted to say that the trip was fantastic and it’s oh so good to be home. I missed those kids. Mmmmmm, babies.
(I...
